Why should I tell you my problems?

If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, all rejoice together. Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it. - 1 Corinthians 12:26-27

As part of the body of Christ, we care about what you are going through. Praying with each other helps to lighten each others’ burdens. It helps us to develop trust in the body of Christ, and it forms a spiritual unity that evokes the power of God. As Acts 4:31 says, “And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together.”

In addition to praying with you, we want to provide encouragement, support, and accountability for you. James 5:16 says, “Therefore confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man has great power in its effects.”

Again I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I in the midst of them."
- Matthew 18:19-20

Who prays for my request?

Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with sighs too deep for words....who is to condemn? Is it Christ Jesus, who died, yes, who was raised from the dead, who is at the right hand of God, who indeed intercedes for us?
- Romans 8:26, 34

It is most important that you know that Jesus Christ is interceding for your needs. This simply means that God the Son is praying on your behalf. And not only God the Son, but God the Holy Spirit.

When you post your request on the site, any Virginia Prayer Network Member visiting Virginia Prayer Network—whether from New Hampshire or New Zealand, Uganda or Uzbekistan—can view your prayer request and join with you in prayer. In addition, there are prayer leaders at each prayer center binding with you, believing with you, and rejoicing with you. They are available to listen, to talk, and most importantly to pray with you! This is the quintessence of a global prayer meeting: thousands—millions! —pleading with the heart of God to meet your need. And whether physically or virtually joined together, God is in our midst!

How do I come to know God?

If you confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For a man believes with his heart and so is justified, and he confesses with his lips and so is saved.
- Romans 10:9-10

God is a real God. He was present in time before the world even began. It’s a mind-blowing concept, one we can never understand with our finite minds. The amazing thing is that He cares about you and had a plan for your life when He created the world. He wants a personal relationship with you and pursues you passionately.

You can know God by simply responding to Him in these ways:

  1. Acknowledge that you are a sinner. Romans 3:23 says, “All have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:10, “As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one.”
  2. Confess your sins to God and Repent. 1 John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive our sins, and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Confession is admitting that we have done wrong. Repentance is an inward resolve to live differently. We can receive forgiveness because of the death and resurrection of God’s son, Jesus Christ. He paid the penalty for our sin by giving His life.
  3. Make Jesus the Lord of your life. The Holy Spirit comes into our hearts and changes us. He gives us a desire to live for God. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, “Therefore, if any one is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away, behold, the new has come.”

I appeal to you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that you may prove what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. - - Romans 12:1-2
